Hearts in North Carolina

Hearts in North Carolina

Cashiers, NC

Our wedding ceremony spot
We have been traveling to North Carolina from Florida for several years, mostly staying in the Cashiers/Highlands areas. Last year, my boyfriend of 11 years proposed to me, and we knew we wanted to be married in North Carolina. So after much research, and many discussions, we decided somewhere around the Asheville area would be best. We took some time an explored the areas that best fit what we were looking for.  After visiting the Waynesville area my heart knew this would be the place to exchange our sacred vows. We did explore a few other areas after Waynesville, but for me nothing compared.  The small town flare, the friendliness of the resort we were considering (The Waynesville Inn), the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the wonderful restaurants were exactly what we were looking for. If you love peaceful simple surroundings with a little bit of tranquility, I suggest you try the area yourself. I'm not saying Waynesville is for everyone. With a population of just under 10,000 it's not going to offer you a lot of nightlife, or higher-end-big-name hotels and stores, but it WILL offer you quaint motels and shops, historical resorts, great restaurants and beautiful mountain views.
By the way, I fell so much in love with the area, I have obtained my real estate brokers license for North Carolina, and I am planning on moving there in the next couple years. Here's one of the area's we are considering moving too, because it is AMAZING - Avalon  If you would like more detailed information please contact me at DeAnnSuchy@gmail.comAvalon Park, Waynesville, NC

My favorite Dude Ranch and Story From Colorado

If you enjoy riding horses, exploring mountain sides, fly fishing, skeet shooting, cattle driving, spring spa retreats, zip lining, meeting new people, laughing and great food, I have the perfect place to recommend to you! Bar Lazy J Ranch in Parshall, Colorado.
I first visited the ranch in 2007 on a recommendation from a friend, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, I vowed to return with my then boyfriend now husband, so he may enjoy the venue as well. Unfortunately, it took us a little longer to return than I had intended. Eleven years to be exact, but the ranch did not disappoint. It's still the best outdoor vacation experience I have ever had, and now my husband agrees. A fun story about our last trip there, in September 2017. My husband, who had been holding on to my engagement ring for 11 years, ended up proposing to me along the Colorado River (see picture below)
because he felt it was the right place and time. I have to admit, I was a little shocked he had been holding on to the ring for such a long time, but the timing and the place was perfect! And talk about a warming reception. The Bar Lazy J Guest Ranch jumped into action and announced our engagement to all the guest making the evening celebrations all about us! It was unplanned, but turned out perfect!
Back to the ranch activities, the mountain trails are simply amazing, and any photos will not do them justice. The skeet shooting was a blast!...(lol, get it?). The zip lining over the Colorado River was exhilarating and there's so much more I can tell you about, but you really need to go check it out for yourselves.
Please check out their website https://barlazyj.com/ and feel free to contact me for further details as well. Happy Travels!

Loving and Living in Paradise (Bonita Springs)

Well this is my first blog about traveling in the USA, but I figured why not just start at home? After all I do live in paradise (also known as Southwest Florida - Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Naples). Despite it's reputation of an "older" generation residing here, many people are please to find out about the many adventures available. To be matter of fact, we have a HUGE beach to enjoy on the Gulf of Mexico. So I might mention, boating (motor, jet skis, kayak, canoe and paddle boarding),swimming, shelling (finding unique shells on the beach), or fishing.  If you're not comfortable being on the big water, then there are MANY rivers, bays and canals to adventure through in the area. Beyond the water there is golf, tennis, pickle ball, boccie ball, shuffle board, hiking, biking, endless shopping, museums, botanical gardens, dancing, ice skating (yes, it's indoors) and my favorite, DINING!
I'm a firm believer that pictures speak louder than words so the following are pictures taken through out the area of places I've been. Please do NOT hesitate to reach out to me for further explanation or information on visiting the area. By the way, full disclosure, I happen to be a Real Estate Broker in the area as well who works with rentals as well as sales. Enjoy Life!
